about

"Brilliant newcomer Marshal Herridge showcases his talents as a bassist, bandleader and composer with a thrilling first chapter.” (Matt Micucci, Editor of Jazziz Magazine)

Chapter One is a bookmark for Marshal Herridge in his musical journey. The album pays tribute to his musical studies and is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition and straight ahead hard bop playing. On this recording, the upright bass is featured as a solo instrument within a traditional jazz quartet setting. The album is a compilation of Marshal's compositions and is a clear representation of his voice both as a player and as a composer.
